Krymskie Kanikuly

These competitions are traditional in Ukraine. Only on Krymskie Kanikuly (autumn) and Tavricheskaya Vesna (spring), you can meet more participants than on Ukrainian Championships. And the only one place for them ─ Alushta.
Krymskie Kanikuly holds last 4 days of October, when school pupils have one week of vacation. So here comes also many sportsmen from Russia and from other close situated to Ukraine countries.
This year format was:
1 day – ultra-long with mass start
2 day – sprint
3 day – normal*
4 day – normal*
*A winner time is around 1 hour, so it’s not the middle and not the long.
Difficult to say something more due to I was only spectator.
In Crimean DOMA you can find maps with men’s Elit course.

But due to I can't ran I used time for walking.
When it was second day of competitions I decide check Chatyr-Dag.
As you can check in Wiki: “The mountain consists of two plateaus: the lower (north) and the upper (south)”. The next map is from the lower plateau. The course is from training camp in summer 2004.

This map is one of my favorite in Ukraine so I really enjoyed this hike. Even that we hiked without maps.
After the lower plateau we climbed upper one with highest point 1527 m above sea level ─ Eklizi-Bourun.
Kml track for google earth. All trip takes 6 hours, 18.7 km long and 1045 m. of climb.

In early morning of third day, in Saturday, from Zaporozhye came my old friend Sergey and we decide check how it’s going on Demerdzy.
We start our climbing from the place of start of 3-rd day event.

The weather was really nice. Generally, all days the weather was fantastic. Not cold, not warm, the sun was shined brightly, no any clouds.
So, we climbed both highest points of the Demerdzy – southern and northern.
Kml track for google earth. 6 hours, 15.3 km/1377 m

In the last day of competitions we decide take a rest and watch Orient-show.

It was funny to watch how sportsmen run this course after this one.

So, this was the last day of Krymskie Kanikuly. You can find some info and results here (ru).

Most of participants come back home but we decide to take 2 days more of rest in Crimea.

In Monday we were in Nikitsky Botanical Garden and Yalta for sightseeing.

In Tuesday we climbed a highest point of Crimean mountains ─ Roman-Kosh (1545 m.)
We start hike from place near the first event day start.

One more nice hike with nice memories.
On last part of tour we met two foresters and they told us that we were in national reserve area. We said that didn’t knew about this, spoke about orienteering and they let us go.
Kml track for google earth. Only until the Roman-Kosh (a battery in gps logger died there).
So, at least 15 km. to highest point with 1291 m. of climb.

It was really nice trip.
